Tired of games involving a “voice of reason/unusual one” or “peas in a pod”? This workshop focuses on playing games where you’re in a weird world. Rather than the scenes we usually find ourselves in, with a voice of reason or peas in a pod, we’ll work on creating scenes where the entire world the characters inhabit has a game. Identifying games in weird worlds can be a great tool for second beats, group games, or even tag runs that heighten to unexpected places. We’ll explore ideas like staying grounded in a crazy world, mapping, and blowing out a weird world to comedic heights.

Instructor:

Todd Fasen

Todd Fasen has been performing since his days in preschool when he was cast as the role of Max in his preschool graduation production of Where The Wild Things Are. In 2000 he began improvising as a member of the Vassar College improv troupe boringly named Improv. Todd studied improv at both UCBTLA and IO West. He currently performs at UCBTLA and around Los Angeles with his teams Convoy and Sentimental Lady. Todd had a recurring role on the critically acclaimed FX Series Terriers, and co-created and starred in a pilot for Comedy Central. He has also appeared on The Goldbergs, Reno 911!, Conan, Key & Peele, and in various national commercials.
